The good folks at KDHX tasked me to create a poster to promote a concert showcasing their on-air talent. Specifically, those DJs whose shows focus on playing the blues. As a nod to the cultural history of chicken shack venues, juke joints, and crossroads meetups found in the blues, I decided to play off of '40s and '50s vernacular for the typography and composition. I used a gradient to simulate split fountain screen printing, and to re-contextualize it with modern times, I added a rhythmic series of photos to the background as a textural element.
